August 2013 surgeries

Recommended Posts

I had irritable bowel n couldn't go before surgery, and they told me that after surgery I would have diarrhea, and sure enough I do. So I really wouldn't worry about it unless you go so much that it dehydrates you.

When you have a BM does it smell really bad? What about if you pass gas? I'm just curious.

Just join and I had my surgery August 12, 2013. As of Sunday the 11th I had lost 13lbs, but now I'm having a problem tolerating the Protein Shakes. Is anyone else experiencing this?

My problem isn't that I can't tolerate them as far as my stomach...I just can't stand the taste anymore...I try but it almost makes me throw up...

I'm right with you. I had to switch to slimfast high Protein low carb pre made . I can't wait to make the switch to puree

Same here. It gags me to drink them. Then after I do it feels like it lays in my throat.

So last night before bed, the boyfriend was like, so when do you start actually losing the weight?

I wanted to slap him. Maybe it's the hormones. Or maybe cause I know it doesn't happen overnight and don't understand why he doesn't.

So I was like I have lost 20 pounds so far and am only 2 weeks out of surgery. I then said I had 150+ pounds to lose and it will most likely be gone within the first year.

Every time he finds out something that we need to do after surgery, (chew food like crazy, not use straws, not have sweets..) he just says and you couldn't just stick to a diet because..?

I want to hit him every time he says it. I say the surgery gives me a tool to help me lose weight and doesn't just lose it for me. Frustrating...

It does!!! I don't understand, right before surgery he was supportive and saying he'd always be there and such. Since then he's gone full time at a job he hates so he brings work home and since I'm recovering, mostly when he gets home is at night and I'm watching tv and he's pissed I'm not cleaning the house or have dinner made for him (he hardly eats when he gets home anyways?)

A week after surgery I finally got home and he was going on about cleaning the house and that since I'm home for 3 weeks that I should clean the house before I go back to work. I can't lift baskets of laundry, and standing to wash the dishes for hours on end does not agree with my body right now. He just sees me doing nothing and I have been doing little things I can handle, but I'm trying to relax and recover. All while getting used to new eating and drinking schedules. Just wish he was a bit more understanding..

I wish he would understand you. But that sounds like my brother. My husband has really shocked me. He's doing a pretty good job. Of course I was cut more than most of you, so recovery time is longer.

Anyway just ignore him n do Wat u can n everything else can wait. It will still be there wen u recover.

Oh wow, yeah I would be super mad too. It's harder when we have a full intact stomach because we get hungry more, but we the surgery as a tool it's easier then smack him in the back of his head!

Well I'm back to work today. 3 weeks out as of today. Have a lot of my energy back but if I walk around a lot I tire easily. Everyone at work knows that I can't lift a lot and they all are saying they're going to help me out until I'm fully recovered. Lucky I have such a great team! 20 pounds down and doing good, not getting all Protein in yet but it's still a work in progress. On soft foods or whatever I can mash in my mouth that's fine.

I had a sliver of birthday cake and some carb smart low sugar ice cream for my dads birthday and it went down well. Nice to have things proportioned and I can have those things every once in a while but just a bite here or there. I can def tell a difference in my face where I've lost the weight. Can't believe I had the surgery some days, I have omg moments a lot lol I start school next week and this last year should be interesting with me dropping weight like crazy lol
