Protein bar recommendations?

Recommended Posts

I will be 6 weeks out and traveling. I was planning on having at least one Protein Drink a day, but a Protein Bar would be much easier when traveling. Does anyone know of a tasty Protein bar that is soft (not crunchy, I am only 6 weeks out) and low in sugar?

Quest are the best ones I've had. The Atkins ones are good too.

Quest! 6week out myself and I can handle them pretty well. Adkins and south beach have some pretty decent ones but Quest is not chalky

Quest Protein Bars. I ordered online the variety pack. I believe it was 12 bars for around $25. I've tried a couple and liked them all so far. They suggest warming up in microwave which makes some of them even better. Low sugar, 20g of Protein.< /p>

I like Quest too! Be careful with the Atkins. I ate one last night had 11 grams of sugar alcohol and it made me nausea!! Didn't dump thank gawd!

Zone perfect are by far the best tasting and it had Vitamins and minerals. I love the strawberry yogurt and white chocolate macadamia

Surgery date 7/25/12

I'm gonna need to find a zone!! White choc macadamia sounds like heaven

"Oh Yeah" bars are awesome and some have 28grams per bar. They taste just like a candy bar. Peanut Butter fudge, chocolate coconut and more... my nut analyzed them and they are all good Protein

I'm afraid to try Zone bars. I'm concerned that 15 g of sugar will cause me to dump. I'm carefulemtomstay in the 3-5 sugars per 100 cal range. It severely limits my Protein bar choices!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
