16 days until surgery!

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys! So, does anyone else feel like they are totally obsessed with WLS? I feel like its all I can think about!! Sometimes my mood and demeanor is just total bitch! I feel like I've constantly got these running "what ifs..." stampeding through my head. Does it get better, the anxiety and stress, after surgery? Will my mind ever be mine to think of anything else again?

Eventually :D but it is all consuming leading up to the big day!!! Then post op you get crazy hormones and may be crazy psycho again....thought I'd lost my mind the first 6 weeks post op...cried about everything, was depressed (I am so not a depressed person) worried and obsessed about every freaking thing. I was not a little ray of sunshine :/. Now it's just second nature. Where ever I go I'll find something okay to eat, I don't have to plot out every meal and every second of my life (I still plan meals ahead of time....that works best for me to not eat crap and get in Protein but if my co-workers decide to go out to lunch I know now I can gland ill be okay. ). Once it all starts to click it is pretty awesome!

Thank you! I think being on the other side will help calm some of this mental anguish down. :-). I'm going on vacation about 3 month post op so I've been worried about that as well. Glad to know its doable and gives me some hope!

I just got back from vacation (I'm 4 months post). Had to ponder menus a few times and got my but whooped by a half a scoop of ice cream (knew it was gonna happen but we'd just finished parasailing and were so hot and it looked soooo good, and I was so hungry! Oops!). You should feel fine to do whatever you want by 3 months, try not to stress :)

I went on a cruise to Alaska last month at 3 months. I tried to watch my choices for meals but I lost 6 lbs. that week! I think from all the walking. You'll do fine!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
