hautechic13 41 Posted June 14, 2013 Hello all! I've been reading for a while now the amazing stories, challenges, & triumphs and was inspired to join. I have been going through this process since February 2013 and have my surgery scheduled for June 25th...now that the date is set I'm A LOT nervous!!! I don't know why this has just hit me...I wasn't nervous at all up until now...I kept going back & forth between RNY & the sleeve and decided on the RNY. Does anyone have any advice on what u can expect after, what should I pack for the hospital, any blogs I can reference for meal ideas after...any tips on how to wrap up this final week of the pre-op diet (I'm starting to get REALLY Hungry). denise0805 2 Posted June 15, 2013 Welcome! I'm going through the same thing. As soon as I scheduled the surgery I started freaking out. I'm scheduled for June 26th. I've been so preoccupied that I'm like a zombie at work & everyone keeps asking if I'm ok. We will make it through and it will all be worth it! 1 hautechic13 reacted to this

Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk[/quote'] Cell phone and iPad with charger. Chap stick and gas x strips. Wear their gowns if u like. I managed to open my drain and have it leak all over me. Walk as much as u can It helps and gets easier. Toiletries as hosp stuff is lacking. Pretty much slept most of the time and was too busy trying to get fluids up and shuffle down the hall. recipes are all over this site and people are very supportive and a wide source of knowledge. 1 hautechic13 reacted to this

Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk[/quote'] I didn't have a drain. No one I know had one either. Perhaps it depends on other circumstances I don't know of? Or depending on doctor? I don't really know. deaddemmama 474 Posted June 15, 2013 I had a drain only while I was in the hospital. Ask your doc what his procedure is.
iamworthit 208 Posted June 15, 2013 I have a drain. It isn't as bad as I thought. When I feel bloated I open the valve and it helps. I had two initially but the pulled one when I left the hospital. This one is to my old stomach and will be in for a month. Like I said it does help with the gas and pressure so that is good.
ajustice 484 Posted June 16, 2013 I have another question' date=' I keep hearing everyone talk about a drain...can some one please explain? Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk[/quote'] I had 1 drain. Not painful but it's amazing when they pull it out and u see how u had like 8inches coiled up inside plus it is like wow I feel a bit more comfortable. I had a JP drain. The intention of the drain is to pull extra sero sangous(sp? nursing school has been awhile ago) Fluid out of the abdominal cavity. I woke up with 1 in and the nurse took it out right before I left day 2 going home. Just put a bandage over it til it was healed. Not painful and taking it out is usually not painful just feels a bit weird but is over quick. 1 hautechic13 reacted to this
