I like them but costco premier has more Protein per container than Atkins, but I still buy these for the variety. BUT I would no stock up.... I did and your taste changes what you like now will gross you out later and you don't 10 packs of stuff you can't even look at :/ I have containers of Protein (Cookies and cream, chocolate fudge, and French vanilla) at $30 a pop and I HATE THEM lol. Save the money and buy what you like.

Surgery date 7/25/12

I liked the chocolate and mocha flavored ones pre-op. I'm now 11 days post and would rather not drink either. It's not that they taste bad. I just like dairy products very cold. Now that I have to sip it takes me much longer to drink anything so my shake warms up pretty quickly and I don't care for it over ice. I am petrified of Protein powders. I had protein chicken broth and a grape flavored Protein Drink in the hospital. I didn't like the subtle taste of sulfer nor the smell. It Protein Powder reminds me of when I got sick in the hospital 2 days after surgery. I'm sure it's all in my head. I guess I just prefer to eat my protein.

I was wondering about these. My doc said they didn't have enough Protein but honestly I can't stand others I have tried; body fortress, pure Protein, nectar....

The taste and texture grosses me out.

I figure some type of protein is better than none.

Yes that's how I feel. I have tried the Atkins in an effort to get some protein in. I'm on soft foods now and I bought some of the Atkins bars yesterday- haven't tried them yet. I'm just trying to figure out what works for me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
