I was wondering is this all depending on where u had ur surgery bc my stage is 2 and it's Protein Shakes and stage 3 is soft foods it says u can eat oatmeal eggs chicken just make are u chew and it's moist.... Is anyone else having the same stage as me or are u headed to purée ??

It sounds like I have the same type of guidelines that you have. I did not have a puree only stage either. I went from liquids/mush right to soft foods too. ... I've been 2 months out for about a week now and can move on to a regular low fat high Protein diet but I have not tried anything yet. Too scared to leave my comfort zone. :)

My surgeon also does not have a purée stage. I went from a liquid stage (2 weeks) to a soft/mushy food stage. He says as long as we chew our soft foods really well (chewing 20-30 times) then it doesn't have to be puréed. From week 7 on I've been on regular diet and so far no issues.

Yeah all dr's seem to be different. I'm 3 1/2 weeks out and I'm still on mostly liquid. My dr wants me to be on that until next week. I've been trying things though here and there. I've found that I seem to be now lactose intolerant to the non-fat milk products like yogurt. Which bums me out because I love milk etc. I have been trying Beans, eggs, and I tried a bit of potato. I know others are usually on the full mushy or soft stage by now. I honestly think it depends on your body as well

I had a purée stage but I never puréed anything. I just chewed well. For instance, Wendy's chili. I just chewed well. No problems.

just remember, always eat a cup of something, never a bowl, chew food and always go slow, most of the time I could not finish a cup.

I've noticed that quite a bit of you all are able to eat chili or salsa, did it not irritate your stomach? My dr had said not to eat chili or things like that because it could cause irritation, I love chili and salsa and miss it

I'm such a bad girl..I started chili from Wendy's right as I moved from full liquid to puréed. I love spicy Thai food and have always tolerated it well so I gambled. No probs since they will anything spicy. Love salsa

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
