I'm 6 1/2 month post op and yesterday I had some issues. I got severely dizzy and was vomiting and I passed out on my bathroom floor but don't remember any of it. About an hour to a hour and a half I don't remember anything. My husband took me to the ER. I got a bag of fluids and some meds to help with the dizziness and nausea. I felt good besides still being dizzy when we left the ER. Well about 1 this morning it all started again except I remember everything. The ER doctor is passing it off as a inner ear infection but I don't think it is that. Has anyone else ever had an experience like this?? I'm going to my family doctor to start ruling issues out and if everything comes back ok I'm heading to my surgeons office.

I didn't eat yesterday and whatever fluids I drank made me want to throw up. I'm sure some of this is dehydration but I don't think all of it is. So any suggestions I can get to get checked out at my family doctor would be great.

Thanks :)

I told them I think it was dehydration but they looked at me like I was crazy. Considering this is the same hospital that did my surgery....I know why they have a certain building for the wls doctors and why they have certain nurses. After the bag of fluids I felt so much better and came out of the daze I was in. But the nausea and dizziness I still have. I will let ya know what I find out.

I have heard of people having ear issues with these symptoms, but better to be safe than sorry. Be careful driving until this is resolved!!

Good Luck!

It's just dehydration. My ears look great. My doctor laughed when I told her the ER doctor didn't even check my ears. I have been dehydrated many times since surgery but this is the worse ever. Lesson learned. Just glad that's all it is. That scared me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
