General question....im not having any problems with liquids and in 7 days post op. pouch is suppose to be 2oz max but it seems like it is holding more? Im never really hungry and i try to follow a schedule...is this " normal" i was expecting to take two or three sips of Water and be stuffed...just curious if any one has some input

I feel like I can eat too much too. No concept of fullness yet at 2.5 weeks out. I'm listening to my body and its not saying much yet. Still can't get all the water or Protein in but it's getting better. Today I felt like I ate all day and made it to just 700 calories.

I am having this same issue. I can pretty much drink like I used to. I haven't felt any fullness or discomfort (except gas later if I have too much Protein at once). I was going to call my nut today. Plus I'm only on liquids and shakes...I imagine it will change with purees. I'm glad I'm not the only one...

Thanks ladies for your encouragement. I made it through yesterday without any psychiatric incidents. LOL Today is a new day and I'm going to get through this one as well. I just have to make this new lifestyle work for me, and I will.

One week out and down 6 pounds...looks like I'm on the right track. :-)

I can't really tell with liquids, but yesterday was my second day on real food. I ate one too many shrimp and I paid for it. I was in pain for about an hour and a half, and then my mouth watered. Next came white foamy stuff and then the food. Felt so much better afterwards, but my 19 year old was worried about me. I will be measuring from now on

bjroberts417,

I spoke to my NUT yesterday she said to stick with reality that I have a 2oz pouch and be mindful of the amount you drink and stretch out the time intervals between sips. From what i have read here and diffrent articles, the pouch has been tramatized by the surgery and is nor reporting back to the brain corectly ...YET!! so you may be full and since you pouch is not giving the correct sensory outputs it could be troublesome. The pouch will self correct this deficeny shortly but it needs time to heal

That info alone stopped me and throttled back the way I was intaking fluids. it makes sense to me but, Im going to ask that question to my surgeon next thursday.

until then.. sip sip sip .... Protien, Water vitiamins .....sip sip sip .... exersice .....Protien, water vitiamins....exersice....sleep !

Regards

The Incrediable Shrinking Man :-)

This is a little TMI but I have to ask. I'm 9 days post op and last night I was having watery BM all night and into this AM. Feeling blah. Had my first taste of a Protein Shake yesterday. Could that of been the reason??? Has that happened to anyone else?

They're 2.9oz. I couldn't even get through one. I tried it late at night tho. Maybe if I try it earlier on the day. I have more of a chance of getting rid of the taste. Lol.

If you're still only on liquids, the thing I remember is liquids in=liquids out. :/ I just started soft food on Tuesday and am finally past everything being completely liquid coming out. If you're running a fever or something, then I would worry.

The only good thing about Protein Shots is that they're small...and I mean the only good thing.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
