Nooooo. This has not felt like a break for me b/c of MIL dying. She was mostly comatose from Christmas week and she passed yesterday. Funeral this week. I am looking forward to February break, to say the least.

So sorry for your loss. It is a very difficult thing to go though, even when you know it is best for them. Make sure to make some time for yourself this week. Easy to say, but very hard to do. Even more important for us when we are on this journey.

On another note, I work in the district office of a school district. No school in Minnesota - too cold. Tomorrow morning we will wake up to temps about -25 with wind chills at about -50. I don't plan to so much as stick my nose out the door.

RJ, sorry about your Eagles. At my house we were hoping for a win! As Viking fans we really dislike the Saints!

Thanks :-) But all in all a great season. Very impressed with Chip Kelly, no pratical NFL head coaching experience and he was able to rally this team to a respectible season.he has a core team that is behind him. And while Eagle fans are some of the toughest in the country he was able to win us over.

As we say here every year ......there is always next season :-)

E.A.G.L.E.S. .....Eagles!!!!

time to switch my cap... Bring on the Fightin' Phils...........play ball!!

Go in for my six month follow up tomorrow morning. Ever feel like the universe is against you? Well, I have come down with a HORRIBLE cold, so I really have no desire to get myself moving. The HIGH temp today was about -15, so taking a walk outside is out of the question. Tomorrow morning the temp is going to be about -20. If the car starts and I get there, my weight is going to be just short of my goal. I wanted to be down 150 pounds. I am at 148, almost, but not quite! I am proud of what I have done, but I wish I could have had the two pounds!

I had my six month follow up today. My dr was really pleased with my progress and said I am doing great. It really re energized me to keep pushing and get to goal. He said I could lose another 20 lbs but I still want to try for 40. Secretly id be thrilled with 20 because that would be low 140s. Everything else went great. Yay!!!

CONGRATS!! You have earned it!

I am only 2 lbs away from what my doc thought I would bottom out at. I would like another 30 - 40. I am just going to keep on doing what I am going and see what happens. I have high hopes for a good visit in the morning too.

Well good-luck to everyone above and they way it sounds you have been doing fantastic so far! Remember it's not a race, as much as it is a life time commitment, I'm aiming on 240 lbs, weighed out today at 274.4. Thats 136.6lbs of loss, at 6'6 I'm hearing now that i look great now not to lose no more but let's see how it goes.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
