I have been so frustrated with my weight loss recently. I was 258 they day of surgery 6-19, at my 3 month 9-17 I was 218 and today I am 209. So 49lbs in 4 months which is good but less than 10lbs the last month. I still walk 2-3 miles 4-5 days a week and I have increased my Protein to a minimum of 90 grams a day the last 3 weeks-month. I typically get at least 50-60 oz of Water as well.

I am the same as you. 6/24 surgery date and down 43 pounds. I am getting 70 - 90 grams of protein and about 50 ozs of water low carbs calorie intake is about 700 - 1000. So tired of hearing everyones journey is different. I satisfied with what I lost. Just want to move along a little tinsy bit faster.

So i got very brave today and purchased a digital bathroom scale to help me better measure my progress and keep me focused . I promised myself a week or bi-weekly weigh in so i don't drive myself into a obsessive compulsive tailspin. Fortunately for me i threw caution to the wind and hopped on the scale (Please note this has been my mortal enemy for decades) and to my surprise i am down another 18 lbs! Yipee :D . This puts me ahead of my goal to be in the 200"s for Thanksgiving. As of today's glorious date i am down a total of 145 lbs since i started this program 1 year ago At this rate i should be ( God willing and the Creek don't rise ) at my goal weight of 180 Lbs by May of 2014. Thanks you God for letting me find Dr.Richard Ing and the entire team at The Bryn Mawr Hospitals Bariactric center. . Hope everyone is have a Beautiful Sunday. RJ

Congratulations, RJ!! So happy for you! That's awesome to hear! You've really been working so hard and you're such an inspiration to all of us! Keep rockin it! :)

Graceann & favor, it's hard to hear the cliches! I definitely agree. We are so accustomed to beating ourselves up we've forgotten how to Celebrate. You guys "got this!" Jealousy of others is normal, guess what? Someone you know is jealous of you, maybe they just don't voice it. It's too late to turn back, so just work your program and your body your way. (Oh, and if you are exercising the same every day or so, change it up for effectiveness. So, say in walking, if you take one direction today, go the opposite tomorrow. You may want to walk for 20 minutes the take a quick 30 second jog, then walk, then pretend to high step for 30 seconds. The neighbors will think you're crazy but your body doesn't get to set to a new normal)

My first birthday since surgery is coming up and I need some suggestions! I have a large family and as per the usual routine we all meet at a restaurant for a lovely meal. However, this year I would like to change it up and NOT make food the focus. Any ideas/experiences you guys can share?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
