They are real thin, like half the thickness of a standard bagel. Maybe not in all markets yet. I think either Brownberry makes them. I have bought them pre-surgery. Seems like they would be easier to digest (post surg).

Thanks for the tip but Bagels are a thing of the past for me. I was lamenting over the loss of my Saturday morning Breakfast treat. A Bagel, large cup of black ice coffee and reading the The Philadephila Inquirer were an early moring crack of dawn ritual.

I am from Michigan, so getting a great bagel has never been easy! Probably a good thing! One less habit to break!

I have to make a confession, I didn't always scrub my toilets every week (not gross but . . .) Well, yet another outcome of RNY because I always need to be prepared for yacking (like tonight). Carry on.

I use Corn Chex to combat the munchies. Really good with Laughing Cow.

Does anyone purchase the Protein Bars from Nashua Nutition? I tried kays Puffs and BBQ Mix Snacks from them and HATED them. Was wondering if the bars were better

I found that the LUNA brand lemon zest ones are great and the numbers work. granted they are " designed" for women (what ever that marketing ploy means) but they are the only line that seem to be geared more towards rny patients. they are actually a Cliff product. and tase great.

i stick with the lemon zest because im not a big fan of chocolate.

I love chocolate. That is why I was hoping they were at least decent. LOL!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
