Thank you! He came home around 7:09am. His kidneys were starting to break down. So thankful he's okay.

I'm so sorry your son is going through this, but its also a great reminder of how important hydration is! Especially for those of us who don't absorb as much!! Sip sip sip, my friends!!

New personal reminder of the importance of our 64 oz of Water - my surgery was 6/12, today, a kidney stone! First one ever. I had heard they felt like back labor and guess what, it does! 3liters of Fluid, 7 hours later, and a bunch of anti nausea meds (throwing up since yesterday). So really gang, we need to keep that water going in!

I sure am trying but I really only like cold water and with this heat it gets warm so quick. I had a frozen bottle of water this afternoon and took it shopping. By the time I got to my first destination, maybe 20 miles away, it was warm. Had to go to the store and buy another one.

However you have to get it in, do! Never ever want another kidney stone and studies have shown after rny there is an increased risk of kidney stones. Didn't realize that before choosing rny but . . . Still learning my new life. . . .

So I was a "bad girl" tonight and had a glass of wine. My fiancé had a big meeting at work and some good news so we went to see what the new bar/restaurant down the street from our house was like. I had 1 chicken tender, a glass of Water, and a glass of White Zinfandel (I read that the sugar in it is low). The good news is, I felt completely fine, didn't even get a big buzz on (I expect this is because I would sip some wine then sip some water right after). The chicken tender was fine until I decided to be an asshole and take a bite of my finances fried zucchini... As quickly as it went down is as quickly as it came right back up! Ew. Lesson. Learned.

I am sitting in the worst chairs in the world inside an ER room with my 19 year old. He has been feeling bad all week. He works... No workED at a landscape company' date=' and has been outside in this extreme heat. I took him to urgent care on Tuesday. He was not dehydrated, but his sugar was at 49. After work yesterday, he basically collapsed in the bathroom. His sugar was 156, he had cramps, vomiting pretty much all day.

It looks like he is severely dehydrated. His kidneys were horrible when we got here and they have moved to bad at this point. Going in the right direction, but not great yet. They are not admitting him yet. So, we sit in this uncomfortable room and try to last through the night. Prayers appreciated![/quote']

Sorry to hear...that has to be difficult...I'm praying for you, your son, & family

Well, sometimes things are just going too well! I have had the easiest time with my RNY. It is almost hard to believe that I had anything done! I have been working out every day, getting all my Protein and Water in, was back to work full time on Monday, losing weight and feeling great. Well, today I sure put a damper on my progress. I am an administrative assistant to the curriculum director at a school district (cool to see so many educators here!). Right now we are gearing up for teachers to be back in August. I was running around, busily getting stuff done, when the sandal I was watering caught on a rug and I fell, very hard, smashing my knee on the tile floor and my face into a concrete block wall. I have a knot above my right eyebrow and my right knee is very bruised and swollen. I pretty much ache everywhere. I am told tomorrow will be worse. To make matters worse, in the weeks since surgery I have never been so tempted to cheat. I would give ANYTHING for some ice cream! No exercise for me until at least Monday. I know it could have been so much worse, but I am still feeling sorry for myself. :(

I decided screw swallowing pills. I don't care how bad they taste! Getting a pill stuck is like death! I just crush the pill and eat it like that, then follow it up with a baby spoon of Nutella. Takes the nasty taste right away.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
