Tomorrow I get my G drain pulled. Ir has been a month as of today. I am scared but so happy to be getting it out. I know I will feel so much better!

I lost 10.5 lbs in 4 weeks! I know that is a lot slower than most but I am still happy. It is going down and that is all I care about. It didn't come on over night and the same is true coming off.

My plan is to start strength training after the drain is pulled. That will improve my metabolism. :)

Yesterday and today have been pretty exciting. Had my esophagus dilated yesterday and was able to eat some Soup and keep fluids down. I cannot eat or drink much' date=' but anything is better than ice chips only. Today I have had a few ounces of potatoe soup, a popcicle, and a little lemon Water. I know it's not much but I am happy with anything. Hopefully after just a few more dilations I'll be back to normal![/quote']

You are really having a rough time. I am glad you are able to get some things down today.

A loss is a loss in my book! I am praying it won't be difficult to get out.

Why did you have the drain so long? I didn't have a drain, but my main hole had to be packed with iodoform packing strip for about 3 weeks, when my hole was an inch deep I just had to cover it, today is my first day without covering, tomorrow my 4 week check up, I hope all is well.

I only had a drain 24 hours and they pulled it out before I left the hospital. Why did you have yours in so long?

I was a revision from lapband to RNY. The drain I have is different than the JP drain we all got. That one got pulled in the hospital. This one was to my old stomach. I am not sure why he left it in but my surgery was a mayo Clinic so I am sure there was a reason. basically, I was told that when I feel nauseated, or bloated to open the drain and let it drain (yuck) for 20 minutes. It takes the pressure off of the sutures. It works, but is gross and pulls all the time. I am so glad to be getting it out tomorrow. It did help with the nausea ans bloating but has been pure hell. This is called a G drain..

I was a revision too. My doc said he almost never uses G-tubes, except sometimes with revision. Thankfully none for me!!! I think it's just because of the amount of cutting and scraping, inflammation, etc.

Makes sense because I had intestinal metaplasia from the band. I know I had a lot of problems. I hated that band!

Anyone heard of cloud bread? I calculated in fitness pal. 1 piece has about 34 cals' date=' 1 carb and 2 grams of Protein. It is light as a feather! I'm in love!

surgery date 6/11/13 HW: 364lbs. SW: 335.5 CW: 308 GW: 150

I've heard of it but haven't tried it. Very curious tho. I could die for a piece of bread with some cheese or butter right now lol.

Whew!! My doc said no Protein Shakes and only meals 3 times a day. I can't do it. I feel like I'm staving to death. I started adding my 4th meal (snack) as 1/2 a Protein Shake.< /div>

No Protein shakes? ??? Are you sure? I've never heard anyone say that before. There's no way you will get all your protein without it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
