Hi everyone. This is my first time on this site. I had my RNY on June 11th. I'm not having the easiest recovery. I feel that I'm doing everything wrong. So i came searching for support.

Pr1ncessJulee,

I am 16 days Post Surgery today. ( Yippee!) Just keep in mind everyone's recovery period is different, but it will pass.

If you are having specific issues please check with your surgical posse. They are the ones who know you best .

But If you looking for support you have come to the right place , All of your fellow members have been through or are going through the same Journey you are.

So please post any questions you have no matter what , Some one will have good the advice you need. Your not alone in this.

Just remember this is just advice and all surgeons have their own methods. So before you try anything,my advice is run it by your surgical team.

Wishing you a speedy recovery and best wishes.

please keep us posted on your progress

They gave me sponges in the hospital that I could swab my mouth with. I used those kind of like a toothbrush to keep my mouth moist. They helped a lot!

I agree!

I am two days post op and will be leaving the hospital in a few hours. I just showered and man that helped so much. For the most part my recovery was going very smoothly until last night. I was so nauseated and dry heaved a few times which is painful and scary. I was able to start passing gas last night, which was wonderful (never thought I would be so happy to do that)!

Right now I'm scared to take in much more than Water. My full liquids start tomorrow. So I have a few questions: what should I start out with and when did you start feeling more like yourself again? Are you always scared when you move up to a new food stage?

Thanks so much!

Hot tea and broth worked well for me. I didn't attempt a Protein Shake until I was like 5 days post op. I started feeling like myself at 8-9 days out but I've had some complications along the way that are finally getting fixed Monday. Oh, and I learned the hard way - take that breathing exercise thing home and use it. I didn't use mine and had awful coughing spells that kept me up at night.

Yea that was no problem going in or out, but the first couple times you relieve yourself it burns , no two ways about it , not fun but each time is was less than before . I just had to cowboy up and push past the pain .

Dearest ABA9903,

Thanks for that response, I am touched you enjoy reading my posts .

I stay positive because I have a great personal support system between family, friends and co-workers.

The one thing with the program at Bryn Mawr is that it is very concise and they prepare you both mentally and physically for this journey.

A visit to my surgeon is like a pep talk and all the members of his team are like my own personal cheering squad!, seriously I have NEVER had a bad visit. And the Bariactric Center in the hospital was awesome, when you walk down the halls ever Nurse, technician, orderly, doctor , Admin personnel cheer you on, its great !

I believe that if all of us try to just go out of our way and spend two minutes to be nice to someone who is have a bad go at it on that particular day , the world would be such a better place to live.

I truly hope and know in my heart that if you are on this site posting some good will come out of it for all of us . there are so many people who have helped me with words of encouragement or great suggestions. I just want to pass it on in the hope the next person will do the same.

Thanks again, Have a great day

Peace out

RJ

OK here is what i tried today and it was OHHH so tasty!!

Vegetarian re-fried Beans.< /p>

No fat sour cream

Louisiana hot sauce.( Me Likee hot stuff , But just a touch i'm only brave to a point! )

Fresh made salsa

1 scoop of non flavored Protein Powder ( 18 grams of protien )

and a touch of Water to balance out the powder

Sick it the blender for 15 seconds and voila! creamy spicy tangy goodness.

Its been 2 hours and no bad side effects yet.... FYI I have been very lucky no problems with anything I have eaten/drank

I guess God gave me a free pass so far ,but im sticking to the plan

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
