So I am about 4 weeks out from surgery and I am a complete basket case! I cry about everything. I have heard other people talk about this... When did you feel that you "turned the corner" and felt normal again?

This is normal. It should end by 8 weeks if I remember correctly. If not you should see your Dr.

I double checked and it should end by 6-8 weeks. It is called the hibernation syndrome if you want to Google it! Good luck. I'm 7 weeks and feel soooo much better!

Seriously, before surgery I would describe myself as level headed. Now. Somebody looks at me funny and I am crying.

Lol totally normal! Not really funny but I was a mess! I remember watching chopped and i was balling because the guy got chopped for leaving out his mystery ingredient. At that very moment I realized this is not me!!!!

I cried about everything and anything. food, not being to drink Water, someone looked at me weird, a commercial, my daughter telling me no.

It lasted a while for me but when I told dr he said normal from released hormones.

Surgery date 7/25/12

Omg I googled this and this totally explained how I'm feeling right now!! The fatigue and just want to fall into the bed or couch ASAP when done with anything!! I even cried watching the bachelorette last night and that's totally not me!!! Why didn't my dr tell me about this? I've been wondering if I had lost my mind and also was stuck in a land of fatigue. Thanks..I'm so glad you shared.

I've been stressing out about this. I think this scares me more than any of the physical stuff. Any advice on ideas to cope?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
