I was gonna post this question also. Woke up at 4am with not bad but heartburn. First time since surgery! My dr. Told me when I had my RNY that it would cure the acid reflux. Have I done something wrong? My surgery was almost 3 months ago

I think I'm going to call my doctor. I'm worried that the heartburn could be something wrong.

I asked a friend who had RNY 3 months before me and she said if you eat and then lay down too soon after or eat too fast it can happen. I did eat too fast and got a massage really soon after I ate. But let me know what your Dr. says

I will let you know what the doctor has to say. I just worried that there is an ulcer or something like that. I have had a lot of stress in my life lately.

I am 8 months post-op and for the first 3 months eveything was great! Exactly 2 weeks after my 3 month visit I started having heartburn daily and it always started between 4 and 8 o'clock at night. It got to the point I was sucking on about 10 Tums a day in addition to my over the counter pepcid that we were told to take for the 1st 6 months. Finally, I mentioned it to my Dr. on my 6 month visit and after trying 2 different presciption meds I am happy to report I am heartburn free. Next visit with him I want to discuss with him what is causing it as I did not have an endoscope to diagnose anything and I certainly don't want to be on meds forever. Time will tell. Good luck!

So I saw my Dr. For the 3 month check up and asked him about this. I told him it happened twice and he told me the same thing my friend said. I probably ate too fast! Good luck!

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
