Recommended Posts

Hi please can anyone help I'm into week 4 post op and last week barely lost any weight in the 5 weeks that's including the pre op diet I've only lost 21 pounds this seems so small to what some lose I'm wondering if I'm doing any thing wrong or is it because I don't have a huge amount to lose? Help please

Annette

That's a great weight loss! Not everyone is the same and it depends on how much you have to loose. Be proud of yourself and follow the plan. I was at the same amount as you and now I'm three months out 58 lbs gone. You should measure yourself so that the weeks you have low weight loss you can see if you loose inches. Also when is the last time you lost 21 lbs in 4 weeks? Good luck!

Some people are slower losers than others, stick to your plan, get exercise in and you will be fine.

The theme around here is that the less you weigh initially, the slower you lose. Is that your case? Either way, as someone else said, when did you last lose 21lbs that quickly, it is an achievement. Good luck to you.

There is no 'normal' and you can't just your loss by anyone else's. There is no ruler that says at two weeks you lose this, at four weeks you lose this, etc. Everyone is unique. If you follow your doctor's instructions and do everything they say, it'll come off. Have you tried taking measurements to judge any changes?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
