Benedryl makes me drowsy enough to sleep. I was hospitalized years ago with some bizarre rare syndrome. I hadn't slept in days and they were afraid to medicate me because I could stop breathing. They gave me Benedryl' date=' which just makes you drowsy enough to dose off. Afterwards Benedryl helped me get rest whenever I had trying times and couldn't sleep.[/quote']

All the Benadryl that Walgreens had in liquid was flavored for children and I didn't want to risk the sugar content. I got the melt away melatonin instead. I came home early but did not nap- really hoping that with the melatonin and only 2 hours sleep last night that I can sleep.

The melatonin let me fall asleep. I did toss and turn a lot the past few hours but overall a much better night than the one before.

How was your day today? Did you last all day? I hope you're feeling well.

Since my boss is being so great (he loves me anyway) I'm working just till early afternoon this week so I don't overdo it. I don't think I could have stayed any longer than I did today anyway. I left at 1. I was so tired and having some pain in my butt from sitting so long- starting in the hospital from laying in the bed my butt was sore and then went numb. So the work chair was bothering me pretty bad- guess I need to buy a cushion- it never bothered me before. I didn't nap when I got home though I was exhausted- the heat outside isn't helping that. I was afraid if I napped I'd have trouble sleeping again tonight.

I took a shower when I got home and removed my steri strips. Then I laid down and watched a movie. My sister brought me a cup of sonic ice which made me very happy. I'm not getting enough fluids yet- I'm still eating on these. I know I'll sleep good tonight. I'm so relieved I don't have to work all day this week. Thursday afternoon I have my follow up with surgeon.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
