waiting for date

Recommended Posts

Hi all. I am new to LBT. I have my appointment with Dr. Singh in Albany on Thursday and hope to leave with a surgery date. I am probably looking at April. I am really excited, yet very nervous. I want to have it done sooner but am going on a family trip for Easter and am afraid I may not be strong enough for a 15 hr drive each way and to keep up with the kids.

I have been fighting with my weight all my life but nothing seems to be working as i'm getting older, and can't wait to have the tool to help get it off and keep it off!

I did it, got my date for April 16, 2007. so very excited, it has been a long road. In Albany there is a laundry list of things you must do before your date including 10% of your weight.

Thanks so much Melissa - so glad I met you, It helps so much to have someone who can help motivate you times

Congrats on the banding date, I was banded on 1/17/07 and am ready for my 1st fill. It has been 5 1/2 weeks since the surgery and I am fully healed. I seem to be able to eat anything I want at this time and am anxious to see if the band will help slow this down. I have lost 40 pounds since I got on the pre-surgery diet and don't know if I have lost any more or not. I was very heavy and can't weigh outside the doctor's office. Starting weight 442 lbs. am now at 402 lbs. I was glad to hear about this site and will use it to help support others and look forward to supporting others as we move through the weight loss minefields.lol

Hi Bigelow,

Congrats on the pre surgery loss. I am dreading the pre op diet myself, but looking forward to losing anything. It's been a while since I've had any real success at dieting. Good luck with your fill, let us know how you feel after. I am so excited about this whole process and as supportive as my friends and family are, I think they are a little tired of all my enthusiasim. I have a tendency to run on and on and on, well you get the picture!

I am getting so excited, I think as every day goes by I am just thinking about my new life and getting some self confidence back. There are a few things I am nervous about but they are simple things. I am a bit worried about life style change, only because this is going to be the thing that makes or breaks my relationship!

I will be Healthy and Strong either way!

Congrats all on the weight loss!!!!!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
