So I'm at a conference and of course I feel like the biggest one here. Then my leg and side start hurting more and more as the day goes on and I'm going to miss the most important meeting tonight. I'm really frustrated because I think my chronic pain is going to keep me from getting into shape ....I do all I can do and it just feels inadequate. Feeling fat and sad right now.

I am so sorry. I have been there. In fact I feel that way right now. I just keep trying to keep my head up. You keep yours up too. Just try to remind yourself that you can only do what you can do and all that is truly important is that you take care of yourself. If you need someone to talk to, cry with or lean on just message me. :)

I'm sorry you are down, but you are NOT alone! I am having a bad day too. There is a big parade and a great band, (who I know the members of) in my hometown tonight. Always go and see tons of old friends and have a blast every year. Tonight my back and leg hurt so bad that I stayed home. :( Feeling depressed that this pain causes me to miss so much. And it is very hard to exercise when in pain! I thought that losing 65+ pounds in the last 6 months would've helped, but nope! Will most likely be having back surgery in July, so my whole summer will be shot to hell. It gets VERY old, and is hard to stay positive. Best wishes to you, hope tomorrow is a better day!

I've felt that way my entire life. Where I feel like I'm the biggest one in the room. I've adapted the mind set that it doesn't matter what these people think, It's only what I think about myself that matters. Hold your head high, and tell yourself that you are doing something about it.

I shattered my kneecap when I was 15. It hurts every day. But I've taken to doing low impact exercising, swimming mostly, and It gets a little bit better once you get moving.

Best of luck. :)

I just got cleared to swim again and I can't wait to hit the pool again. It's just that standing and walking really exacerbated my chronic regional pain syndrome and the nerve pain in my leg...the conference required a lot of both. I was also with my sister who is 5'7" 123lbs and has never had a weight problem or a physical ailment. She moves fast and gets frustrated when I can't keep up. Oh well tomorrow will hopefully be better.

I have many aches and pains also: hips, knees, lower back primarily. I am not letting them keep me home anymore. I hurt. I'm going to hurt but I will not miss out on things I want to do too. Just go. You're going to hurt. Maybe the excitement of being out with friends will help you forget for a few. It does get better the more you lose.

Tomorrow is another day. ;) I hope your conference goes better.

Oh, and you should get your sister to carry 100lbs excess weight and see how she feels. Lol.

I agree with Pam...I know I'm going to hurt and that's why I came to the conference despite my doc's advice to the contrary. I guess after thirteen years of nerve pain I'd learn to be ok with what I can and cannot do. I enjoyed the hell out of the part of the conference I could go to. And that's going to have to be good enough. Acceptance is the key to all my problems today. It's amazing how much better I feel after 10 hours of sleep! Gratitude ...I also have to remember that I was bacically in bed for twelve years after a very bad open heart surgery...now I expect to leap over the moon 6 weeks after rny! Laughing at myself!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
