Miche11e 18 Posted June 7, 2013 I started this journey in February deciding that I will have this surgery. I went to 3 months of nutrition classes, I saw a psych,I had lab work done and then went to a pre op class. I was giving a date of June 13th but realize my insurance had not received any paperwork. I remember reading all these posts that you have to be aggressive. When I called my insurance yesterday they told me it takes 15 days for an approval and it would be no way I would be having my surgery next week during the conversation she later them said she will look over it and call me the next day to let me know if I was approved since I kept calling. Lol. I say all this to simply say thank you to all who said you need to stay on top of your own paperwork. I would have ever known that it took so much to have this surgery. But next week here I come!!!!! 3 mzshay35, kristy3k and cookier224 reacted to this

BBdoodle 483 Posted June 7, 2013 Yeah... You absolutely have to stay on it if you feel your surgeon is not doing it fast enough for you. I was lucky where my sureon's staff were very agressive in getting the approval so I just had to sit back and let them do the job Congrats and good luck with our surgery

Texasmike 25 Posted June 8, 2013 Aetna told me 15 days to review my package and they took every day. Almost drove me crazy, but they did approve it. Then you switch to scheduling your surgery and get antsy when the date gets close. One step at a time.
TinyMamiOf3kids 1,280 Posted June 8, 2013 All the best & it sucks. I didn't call ever my PCP then surgeon was on top of everything so easy as pie. I do agree when you want or need something be on top of it. Like I'm fighting for my SSD. I'm not giving up! 1 cookier224 reacted to this
