Hi all. I'm starting my liquid diet, and the Protein Shake I'm using has 30 grams per carton (11 oz). I'm drinking it three times a day, so I'm getting 90 oz of Protein. Is that too much? Is there a such thing as too much protein? I will ask my nutritionist, but I can't get to her until tomorrow. Thanks!

I was told the more protein, the more full you feel. However, my limit was 100grams per day.

It depends on your activity. I try to get 100-130 gras of Protein a day. However I am weight training right now for the police academy test.

Your body can only absorb about 30grams per serving at a time of shakes. You absorb all the protein in whole food protein (meat, eggs, etc).

Remember though every doctor is different so please check with your nut tomorrow.

You drinking the premier Protein premade shakes? My doctor actually recommended these. They served me one in the hospital too- 11 oz and 30 grams of Protein. So my doctor says they are fine. I am so tired of the chocolate though I could scream.

Bought some new shakes today at Walmart- eas and Atkins both vanilla. No more chocolate for now. I need to go back up costco and get vanilla premier shakes.

I asked my nutritionist yesterday if too much protein is bad and she said too much can take a toll on your kidneys and told me to try not to go over 8oz more than I'm required.

Every doctor has a different program, but my daily pre-op Protein goal is 75-125 grams a day.

How do you like the Eas? I was going to try and buy that last night but chickened out.

I hate the EAS brand. Thought it tasted terrible, but a lot of others really liked it. I want to try the premiere protien, but don't know where to get it around here. Will check online.

Well my nutritionist is out of the office until Tuesday...my surgery is Thursday so that's not really going to help me. I guess I'll just keep doing what I'm doing and pray that I'm not hurting anything.

I bought a whole case of the chocolate 3 years ago after I got my lap band. I drank one. It was disgusting to me and I barely got it down. Now that I think about it, the rest of them are still in the box on the bottom shelf of my pantry. I'm sure they're expired by now, so I guess I should throw them away lol.

I never had the heart to try any other flavor.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
