Hello all,

I was banded on 02/02/07 and beside the initial discomfort I have not had any problems. However, to be completely honest I cheat quite a bit, actually 3-4 days after surgery I had grilled chicken, chewed it really well and have not have a problem My question is has anyone out there had band slippage and if so, what indications did you have that the band slipped, i.e. pain, coughing, vomiting? I have been honest with my doctor regarding my cheating ways, he scolded me but ensured me that my band probably has not slipped because I have no pain and am able to eat just about anything. I also have not had a fill yet, so I don't have much restriction at all. Just wondering what it feels like to have a slipped band :)

Helen -

I just read the full thread here - thank you for your post. I was coking for my boyfriend and had a bite of steak which I thought I chewed enough - but didn't. I was banded 2/12/07 and zero problems until now. I litterally thought I was going to die.

I've called the doctor - but he only sees people on Thursdays. I'm trying the Water and rest - hopefully the thing will become unstuck and I can get back to normal soon!!

Thanks for sharing your experience.

Btown, if it is stuck, I have read in other threads here to sip pineapple juice or get to a health food store and buy papaya enzyme as either of these agents help to dissolve foods if they are stuck in the stoma.

And HelenC, thank you so much for posting your experience, it has convinced me not to cheat after I get banded. I hate pain!

Wow - wish I'd seen this thread a couple of days ago! I was banded Nov 06, and wrote earlier about my PBing after my fill. I've done so much better since then - learned to take smaller bites and chew well, with rare (less than once in 2 weeks) episodes of minor PB. THEN, I got cocky. Pre-surg, I used to buy the roasted chicken from the grocery. While putting the other groceries away, I'd eat about half the chicken (while sharing little pieces with my dogs & cats). Post-surg, I've eaten chicken as an entree and as a salad ingredient. No probs. So, I bought a chicken Friday, and THOUGHT I was being careful - only ate the drumsticks, and gave the critters most of the skin. Ten minutes later, started massive PBing - for almost 2 hours. Really miserable - I was afraid I'd slipped my band, but finally calmed down. Now, I'm afraid to even try to eat the rest of the chicken. I'll make sure I have pineapple juice and meat tenderizer handy from now on.

Thanks for being here and sharing...

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
