TinyMamiOf3kids 1,280 Posted June 5, 2013 I notice my teenager very unhappy & it's breaking my heart since she is a minor she can't leave the house until 18. I'm willing to apply for section 8 under spouse & child abuse. I don't know where I go to apply. Is this the same place you would apply for housing? Should I start looking now since I heard there is a waiting list? I'm willing to apply and let her live in the apartment with the boyfriend until I have enough money to go live in my place. The lease and everything will be under my name, but she can pay & the boyfriend the rent requested. We got 2 years to figure this out. If you wanna help me out with locations & where I should go. I live in New York city queens area & I don't want to leave queens. I want the most a four bedroom apartment but willing to settle for a 3 bedroom. I do want & need my own bedroom kids can share Thanks
Rem 87 Posted June 5, 2013 I know every state is different but here they only open Section 8 applications one day a year and the list to obtain a voucher is 3, 4, 5 years long.

So no matter the situation that's the waiting period? Wow!!! 5 years its long but doable we just have to suck it up if worst comes to worst. If anything they can rent a room somewhere until we can have our own place. Better then being on the streets.

Look into some foundations that have housing all around. They can get you apartment's fairly quickly, all rent based on income. I live in an apartment complex that the Caleb Foundation owns and rents to me on how much income is coming in.
