Operation last week and eating a lot today anyone else had this

Recommended Posts

I feel full on very little. I ate about a third of a cup of pea Soup for lunch today (12:30). And I was as full as I used to feel after any big meal. I didn't get hungry again until 6pm. dinner was a Greek yogurt.

Just out of curiosity' date=' are you able to eat and drink at the same time? Do you experience any acid or indigestion? That is a big factor for me because I am so accustomed to eating fast and pushing things down with Water or milk. I am petrified about having this revisional surgery.[/quote']

You can't eat and drink st the same time. You need to wait thirty minutes before drinking. If u r a revision shouldn't u already follow those rules?

Yes I can eat and drink, you just shouldn't....it allows you to eat more and defeats the purpose of doing this. If I'm out with others I will occasionally have a few swallows of Water, if doesn't harm me or cause pain, I just avoid it because of the reason mentioned above. (I will drink a little when I eat Peanut Butter toast!!!! That stuff is like glue!). Are you a revision from Bang or sleeve???? I'm a former band and 5 months in am so much happier and more comfortable with my RNY then I ever was with that damn band!!! It's so worth it!!!

No I had a VBG which is not performed now. I was always able to eat and drink at the same time. It would just get stuck and eventually pass.

After your RNY revision, you will definitely want to follow your doctor's instructions regarding no fluids for at least 30 minutes before and after eating (some doctors may recommend a longer period). There are some very good reasons for that - do a search for the topic "Why no Water with meals?" on the forum and you'll find lots of good information including a great video.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
