I had Lap Band on Jan. 2009 started at 257 lbs, got down to 189, but still had sleep apnea. Gained some weight back, up to 202. Heading in this month to have RNY, need to drop 80lbs and have tried all diets and still holding at this weight and still use CPAP, I think it is here to stay :o

How did u kno it was time to get rid of it. We're u feeling a certain way when u sleep or anything. I've had mine for so many urs I'm addicted to it and use it all the time, even if just for a hr nap. I don't kno how to sleep without it. I'm down 71 lbs as of last weekend and for a month now ( almost 3 mo post op ) I have a lot of phlegm when I wake up to where it about gags me.

I was wondering this too. I only got my cpap this past winter. And now that the weather is warm it's absolutely miserable. I've been less than compliant. If I wake up a few hours before I need to, I take it off and go back to sleep. My sleep apnea is very minor luckily.

My cpap machine is killing me. I have another sleep disorder that wakes me up and keeps me up and the machine just makes it hard to fall asleep too. I really tried the thing for five months but it's killing me. Hoping I don't need it much longer. To top it off I'm not absorbing my sleep meds correctly so sleep is elusive...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
