I was on a liquid diet for 10 days. I was allowed 3-4 high protein/low carb shakes for meals (I used Atkin Advantage). I could also pick two items a day from a Protein list (hard boiled egg, 1 cup of milk, light yogurt, 1/2 cup nonfat cottage cheese, 2oz deli turkey/chicken) and could have 2 cups of raw non-starchy vegetables. And as many calorie-free/sugar free liquids as I wanted (water, crystal light, diet snapple, sugar free Jello, sugar free Popsicles, Decaf coffee/tea, and fat free broth). It was tough, especially the first few days but I stuck to it and lost 19 lbs.

I'm ending day 4 of 14 Optifast diet. Today was the hardest. Arguments with family members made be realize in an emotional eater. All I want is to chew something that isn't a crappy chocolate diet bar. But support groups helped me steer clear of Burger King and what could have been a total disaster.

I'm sorry you had a rough day ,but you sold be proud of yourself ,you didn't do what you've done so many times, turning to food to soothe you . It takes one block at a time to knock the proverbial wall down, you're did just that congrats it'll get easier.

I didn't have a prescribed diet, just had to lost 20 lbs. I was on Phentermine, I had a Protein Shake each day for Breakfast, Tomato Soup and popcorn for lunch (I don't care what anyone says, it worked) and a regular (healthy) dinner.< /p>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
