cfranklin526 8 Posted May 31, 2013 Hey guys, anyone out there have Kaiser insurance? We are in Colorado and will have Kaiser July 1st, I was just wondering if anyone had dealt with them? Thanks! -C
Beckydawn 3 Posted May 31, 2013 I have Kaiser too, but I am in Oregon. I'm slowly working through their requirements. Unfortunately here in Oregon there is a shortage of bariatric surgeons and most likely wont have surgery until the end of the year. 1 cfranklin526 reacted to this

cfranklin526 8 Posted June 3, 2013 How did you guys get started? Did you start with your pcp? Thank you so much for all the inside!!
Beckydawn 3 Posted June 3, 2013 I had to be referred to the Bariatric program through my PCP. She made the referral and I received a packet within a week. So far I have attended a group class, attended an eight week weight management class and my next step will be another group class scheduled at the end of this month. Still many steps to go. It's going to be a long process but worth it! 1 cfranklin526 reacted to this
Pheonix9000 3 Posted June 9, 2013 Hey guys, anyone out there have Kaiser insurance? We are in Colorado and will have Kaiser July 1st, I was just wondering if anyone had dealt with them? Thanks! -C I'm from Colorado and have kaiser, I just talked to my PCP about his thoughts...1 yr later I'm on my way down to goal weight. Kaiser has a great program in the Denver Metro area...but it has an almost 6 month waiting list before it starts. After that it goes pretty quickly. I started this process by getting a referral at the end of May 2012, had a meet and greet @ St. Joe's in Sept. , Started my Pre-op evaluation in January (Dietary Classes, physical, physch eval) Had surgery June 4th 2013. I highly recommend Dr. Chae if you have a choice...He has been great. 1 cfranklin526 reacted to this

Do you go to the support group at Sunnybrook each month?? The shortage of surgeons has been a issue for several people going through the process. It is a long process but it's totally worth it. It helps you get in the right mind frame for surgery and after. I did get through pretty fast though 7 mos. 1 cfranklin526 reacted to this

I did get through pretty fast though 7 mos. Hi Dawn, I am from the Salem area and attend the Salem group. I have been working on the process since March. I just completed the second group "complexity" meeting at KP Sunnyside a couple of weeks ago. My appointment with the nutritionist and social worker is scheduled for the July 29th. I am really excited for the next steps. Unfortunately due to my work schedule I most likely will not have surgery until after the first of the year.
