I did that the first time i had mushies too. All you haveto do is slow down and listen to your body. Take time inbetween each bite to decide if you are still hungry or if you are satisfied. We all had to learn this lesson, you will get it. I either have a little burp or a hiccup when I am done. I also notice that if I take one bite too many it takes longer to swallow it. Everyone has their own little things but those are mine, hope this helps :)

I never fails to surprise me how much power there is in eating slowly. When I dont do it, I overeat everytime, I suddenly get stopped by feeling that I'm going to EXPLODE. Its horrendously painful and uncomfortable.

When I eat slowly it never happens, not only do I recongise the softer stop signal but I've gotten more satisfaction from what I've eaten and therefore dont feel a mental desire to keep stuffing it in.

No don't worry about a slip - but be careful - you are learning and overeating was and sometimes is the hardest thing for me to learn as a bandster - it has taken me a year and let me tell you - your definition of full is really going to change - in fact, i NEVER EAT to full anymore - full to me pre banding was stuffed and now it is way before full - it is a feeling of satisfied and that is quite different. I have overeaten twice bad and let me tell you i was hurting so bad i thought i would die - definitely never want to do that again.

Go slow, don't eat past 20 minutes and listen to your body - it is a learning process.

It's helpful when you are first getting started to measure your food....just put what you know you should eat on your plate, then quit. That's was a new concept to me....that's why I got in the mess I got in.

Hi, you should eat no more than a cup to a cup and one half of food per seating. This will allow you to eat enough to get 1200 - 1500 calories in your diet and not overeat. Hope it works. Diane H.

I also have the issue of overeating! I am 2 months post-op well into solid foods and I just can't stop eating! I know I eat to fast but in a college environment we eat on the go a lot! I still never feel "full" or like I am going to explode and it really bothers me because that feeling is what will make me stop... but since I don't feel it I keep shoveling it in!

AHH!!

I always measure my food out, 1/2 cup, no more. This keeps me from overeating. If I don't measure, I tend to overeat.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
