Anyone Suffer From Pseudotumor Cerebri?

Recommended Posts

Im close to 4 months, had my RNY on 3-13-13. I have gone from 216 down to 161.... You would think with that much of a weight loss I would have relief. My sister had it as well but is also obese. So I think that is why he didn't think it was hereditary. But in starting to think he's wrong. He told me if it was hereditary weightloss wouldn't help. I've heard when you loose a little as 20% of your body weight you should have relief...

That's a great weight loss. There are skinny people who have this condition, so sometimes it's not based on being overweight. Would you ever consider the shunt?

Hey J, things seem to finally be looking up ! The headaches have become a lot less frequent going from every day down to maybe 2 days a week... My eyes don't hurt much anymore either! Had an appt with my Neuro and he said from looking at my eyes he could see my pulse which meant my csf pressure was normal!!! He put me on an daily pill to keep Migraines at bay but thinks the ptc is going into remission from the weight loss!

Hey JPrez, well it seems as tho it may be returning already : ( having all the symptoms again and Migraines getting worse... So today I did something I've wanted to do for a while to lift my spirits when I'm down and to help raise awareness for a cure someday!

Hope you like it as much as I do !! It's the awareness ribbon for IIH or pseudo tumor cerebri .. They just renamed it for some reason!

I'm doing pretty well !! As long as I stay on my meds I seem to do fine, if I miss a few days my headaches and other symptoms come back. But I can't complain since at least it's finally being well managed! How is everything going with you?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
