Anyone Suffer From Pseudotumor Cerebri?

Recommended Posts

Awww good luck. Lumbar punctures are no fun. I ended up hospitalized after both of mine. Lay flat for as long as possible and drink tons of Water. And if a headache starts tell them you need IV fluids and IV pain med. it will cure it instantly. Keep me posted.

Aww no fun! Hate going through that, totally understand the pain. My sis has had over 60 lumbar punctures in her life because of the Psuedotumor Cerebri. She has to have them often, even though it is so dangerous.

This was only my second... It hurts like hell !!! Well like I already knew my csf was high, opening pressure was 38. Just waiting to get a call from my Neuro in what his action plan will be. Laying down in the bed all day and night. Hopefully I won't get another spinal headache !

Thanks! Dr. Called me and is raising my Diamox back up to 2,000mg daily.... I hate taking that much because the side affects are horrible on that much! But it does help out a lot !

I did... But this time it hasn't been as severe as last time but my back killed me until today! It felt like a truck ran over my spine! My Neuro is still hoping it goes away when I loose the rest of my weight(45lbs.) but has brought up a vp shunt in the event it doesn't since I seem to have this severely. Not really sure what the heck that is but I'm sure he will explain it in Aug. if I am still suffering

Sorry, I didn't see your post sooner! Within the first month. I was very fortunate. How are you doing?

Still the same... I get Migraines and headaches most days still probably 5-6 days a week. Some last all day starting when I wake up and others don't come till the evening. I told my dr. This and he said there's really nothing more he can do for me, but that he is convinced that with further weightloss I will see improvement. I don't know why he didn't up the dosage of my diamox to 1500 or 2000mg ? So I guess for now I just live with the pain and other symptoms. When I see him in aug I will be getting some more definite answers for sure!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
