I'm on the pill as I have been for years because of my PCOS. If I'm off it I will bleed for weeks to months at one time and its a lot of blood. I would get light headed from it.

I'm not worried about it beyond the controlling of my period as I have been single for a while. I haven't had sex in a little over a year and not looking for a man now either. Just focusing on myself and getting to where I want to be in my life. Once that's sorted I might try dating again.

I'm not on anything at the moment. I have been using the natural method. I keep track of my cycle very closely and just don't have sex on days that I'm ovulating. I am going to talk to my obgyn about Essure though because I don't want to mess around and get pregnant. I know they say the surgery can mess with your hormones and it may throw my cycle off. I've already had 3 kids and my hubby and I agree that we don't desire anymore.

I was told you can't take the pills, because they don't break down good they recommend the depo or the iud.

I was using the Nuva Ring until I had two blood clots. It actually saved my life. I'd have never found out I had a blood clotting disorder. It could have killed me with a stroke if left untreated.

I now have had my Mirena for about a year and love it! No period. Spot for a few days occasionally and that's it.

I was on the depo shot years ago. Loved the convenience. Didn't love that I gained 50 lbs!!!

I would recommend the Mirena to anyone who already has at least one child. I have 4 kids and I love mine and I've only had it for a few months. My husband and I decided last year that he would get a vasectomy this year. How convenient for him that as of Jan 1st our insurance no longer covers male sterilization but it will cover a tubal ligation that costs much more. Yet another example of an insurance company with a stupid policy. So although its not meant to be a short term solution, I got the Mirena in March to prevent pregnancy before and after my RNY. Later this year after I've recovered, I'll have surgery again for a tubal ligation. I have already met my $1250 out of pocket max for the year with pre-op testing so I won't have to pay dime for it.

Good luck with finding birth control that works for you.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
