First Post Banded 18 Months Ago

Recommended Posts

:)Hi everyone,

I was banded eighteen months ago and I have lost all my weight and maintained it for 6 months now. I have been quite active on another sight but am getting tired of all the off topic postings. I am interested in the band and not that your family is disfunctional etc., etc. This sight seems to concentrate on what I am interested in.

Hi Laura,

Congrats on your successes and welcome! Do you mind saying how much you have lost? I am scheduled for surgery March 7th. I am really up for this!

Laura, you must share your story! We all need the inspiration from Bandsters like you! Especially the new ones, and the ones struggling. Please share!

I know that off topic stuff does make for longer reading, but sometimes it is the process "stuff" that needs the work. So, I don't mind. I am so glad to hear that you have lost your excess weight and have maintained. What have been your challenges? What seems simple? Perhaps I need a little more of the sharing from your experience. I want to learn through your experience, too.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
