doingit4me 9 Posted May 27, 2013 I am still in a lot of pain on my left side. So much that I am still taking about half of my recommended pain med every four to five hours. I am up and moving a lot but wondering if I over did it and am paying for it now. Feels like my left side incision ( the one that they do the most work around) is sewed too tight. If that makes any sense. I burns and I have sharp pains often. Would really like to be off presc pain meds as they make me loopy, but am totally miserable if I don't take on a regular basis. Any one else have or had this? How long did it take u to loose most of the pain? The rest of my stomach is fine and no problems taking in liquids.< /p>

BBdoodle 483 Posted May 27, 2013 It cold just be gas or just the healing process. I would call you surgeon just to be safe, that is what you are paying him for. As far as pain meds go you should take them as directed. I learned from pain management doctors that if you let your pain level get to a 7, 8, 9 or 10 on a 1 to 10 scale then the pain is uncontrollable, if you "control" the pain with meds as perscribed then the pain is controllable even if you are instructed to double up or take more often. When you are in constant pain your body takes longer to heal than someone who is not resting and or not taking pain meds.
Nel 189 Posted May 27, 2013 Call your surgeon. That said, I had a horrible pain right next to my bellybutton at about the same time. Freaked me out. They told me a heating pad and rest. Pain pills as needed. Still. I called my surgeon. Mine has a nurse that is always available.

It takes a good two to three weeks for some people before the pain stops. I was very frustrated with my pain, and called the Dr and everything. Then at about two and half weeks out, it just went away, and I started to feel great. Give it a little more time. You went through a major surgery and they did most of the work on the left side. If you ever watched a you tube video on how they do the surgery, you would understand why it hurts so bad! good luck!

doingit4me 9 Posted May 29, 2013 So my doc put me on a muscle relaxer and my pain is sooooooo much better. Now my left side is just sore, not like my stomach is ripping apart.
