Meds and pouch protection?

Recommended Posts

So, I like my pouch. It's the coolest little pouch ever! I told my friend I had a pouch and she was like, Wow! Like a Kangaroo!! It's an odd yet cool visual. Anyway:

Anyone have an extensive and accurate list of meds to avoid after surgery? I have this one...but it's just one I pasted together from all over the Internet. I'm not sure how accurate it is. Hm.

Let me know if anything is just glaringly wrong here, I don't even know what half of them are:

Most on the list look to be anti inflammatories. My doc said that each person is different. There are meds on this list that I have taken since my surgery. So if you have any questions about meds please consult with your surgeon and regular doctor.

I have been but no one seems to have a list. It's frustrating and like I said, I have no idea if that list is correct. My regular doc has never had a bypass patient. I don't want to change though. I actually really like my doctor. My surgeon is over 1 1/2 hours away in little rock and he's really great at calling me back. I just felt it would be awesome to have a list as a "to be sure" thing.

I actually take Celebrex which is an NSAID, I just make sure to sandwich it in between some food. My Doc is aware of me taking it and I haven't developed a ulcer or anything, but I make sure to take my Nexium everyday. All my Doc said is to give his office a call before I take anything. With the exception of Tylenol or Acetametiphin, thats ok for flu or colds. Really we should consult the Doc before taking anything anyways you never know how it will react with other meds or even your new rearranged insides. Your Regular Doc should understand what will have an adverse affect on your tummy.

For most RNYers its no NSAIDS as they can eat the stomach lining. Motrin or Ibuprofen is usually the only over the counter NSAID you can get. Personally I think as long as you keep both your Primary Doc and WLS Doc in the loop as to what your taking you should be fine....Best Wishes

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
