Two and a half weeks post op, out of town with my fiancé who is normally supportive and tries not to eat the foods I am craving in front of me, but yesterday he ate pizza, today was donuts Mexican food and now a DQ BLIZZARD. I just want to cry :(. It's so hard and my mouth is watering. Then also I have only lost 9lbs in my 2 1/2 weeks so it feels like I'm being so good for nothing :(. This is so hard.

It is hard. I don't go out to eat, I tell people the reality of my surgery. I ask for understanding and if I don't get it, I ignore it or I leave. Work loves potlucks. I just tell myself that I think pot lucks are nasty. The cake is harder to ignore...but it's never really been my friend.

And once you start losing it won't be so bad. I got in capris I haven't been able to wear in YEARS. Seriously. I'm wearing them now. It's so worth it.

Plus I bet that pizza was shaz nasty.

I totally understand! My hubby drinks soda in front of me all day and the family eats pizza and tons of other things I can't have like hamburgers. Yesterday it was Reese's Peanut Butter cups. It is soooo freaking hard to stay good when he is shoving tons of junk food all the time!!! Grrr

Yeah I keep trying to tell myself I can't control what other people eat but that only works so much. Plus I think if I was actually losing weight it might help a little too.

Remove your self when the family is eating all the junk food. Be strong! You have to have will power

It is hard. These last few days have been better. I made Breakfast for my family yesterday and this morning and I was just looking at the food and it was smelling great. I didn't eat the food, I just drank my shake when everyone ate breakfast. But since I been on the pre-op diet, these last few days, I have not really craved any sweets. I just make sure I follow my diet. Sometime, I wonder if this is worth it and I know it will be once I change my eating habits. It was hard the 1st few days, but I got better each day. You can do it. You have chosen to be better, which you have already started just by making the decission to take all the steps to procede with this surgery.

The smells are hard for me! I usually try to eat when they're eating....unless it's outside of mealtimes. I try to eat approximations of their meals and since I shop...they eat pretty much what I shop for. I find myself gasping at their portion sizes...my husband ate some vegetarian sausage parties yesterday...but he had four of them! Yup that was me not so long ago!

I totally know where you are coming from and it was one of the biggest parts of anxiety for me before my surgery. What I remind myself every day is that I can't look at all the foods around me as something I'm missing out on. It's a big mental shift for me. I try to look at all the foods that I was eating before that I loved and remind myself that I got to my current health/weight state because of those food decisions.

I know that if I continue to feel that I'm not getting the things that I want, i'm going to have a much harder time with keeping my diet regulated. i'm taking it one day at a time. For now, I've made the decision not to go out to restaurants at all until I can make good choices on my diet and not look longingly at someone else's plate.

Good luck to you!

My husband and I lost our house to a fire 2 months prior to surgery. We won't be back in for another few months. I'm one month out and in a restaurant at least once a day. I went from apps and a 3 course meal to ordering add ons like grilled shrimp. It's really all about the choices you make and we made this one!!! Keep your heads up.

I'm so so sorry to hear that you're having a hard time, but I know how you feel my husband, just made sausage peppers & onions the other day & then asked if I wanted some! ( I'm almost 4months post op), Sometimes I don't know where his head is at he'll still ask me if I want to go to dunkin doughnuts,or share a sub sandwich with him. He feels terrible when he realizes that I can't have that food, so now when he does it I give him a smack (not hard, just playful) on the back of the head. Then we both can laugh at it. It does take time to adjust to this new way of living, the first 6 weeks all I did was cry telling everyone I made a terrible mistake having this surgery, even my weight loss didn't make me feel better ,but as time went on & I started feeling better ( I also have RA& Fibromyalgia so my recovery took longer than most & I couldn't keep food down). Finding this site & talking to folks that are going through the same things really helps, there is always someone to listen. As usual I've written a novel, sorry but I do have a habit of being long winded. Peace, Mary :)

Just remember.... "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels" on this site wrote that and it is sooooo true. I know its difficult but be strong. If something is bothering you and someone is eating/drinking something you want...go for a walk or just try not to put yourself in that situation at this point. You will have to face all of this sooner or later anyway when you are able to eat normal food and your will power has to be really strong then. When I get weak, I just say to my self "you did not go thur that surgery for nothing" and that kind of helps me get past any hurdles.

Sure as soon as I post this my husband announces he's s taking the family to our favorite Mexican restaurant for a buffet for lunch. He wanted to know why I didn't want to go. Yeah I think I'll pay full price to eat 2 oz. of food. Now that's kinda frustrating.I thought he got it.

I don't soda's at all. I only drink Water. I don't want soda because all I hear is my doc saying " if you want to get fat, drink soda". If we go out to eat. I don't order for myself I will only have 2-3 bites of his food. But on the way or while getting dressed I eat a Protein Bar. I don't have any problems. SD2/19/13. HW 198. CW 150 5'2. 13 wks post op

If you are the one that does the grocery shopping don't buy it, and if they want junk food have them go to a gas station and get it, but make a rule that you don't want it in the house so if they want it they have to eat it outside or before they come home

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
