I had that when I woke up from surgery. It was like I had mucus or something. The Prilosec helped a lot.

I had irritation in my throat after surgery from being intubated during the procedure. My surgeon told me to gargle with salt Water and it was fine after a couple of days.

Same here after my shoulder surgery. After any surgery requiring anesthesia and intubation your throat will be irritated. Perfectly normal.

Oh my goodness! Perhaps this has something to do with something I am experiencing of late.

Please let me know what you think.

I have been post op for 5 weeks now. And the last week I have been feeling like there is something strange stuck in the back of my throat, the right side.

It's like there's something small there and I can't get it out.

The closest similar feeling I ever had was when I ate some popcorn and a piece of the kernel got stuck there.

It is def not something I've eaten, because I haven't eaten anything hard that could get weirdly stuck in there.

It is very very very annoying. Any of you experienced this??

I sometimes get this "gunk" that comes out of my tonsils. It is white and gross. I can feel it everytime I swallow and it is annoying. I use a q-tip to get it out. Not sure if this is what your feeling or not, but if you open you mouth and say ahh, you can see it. Gross I know!

I've read this several times *I'm sure you're chewing enough and whatnot but this seems to be a real issue after GB*

  • Difficulty swallowing (also called dysphagia) can be caused by eating too quickly, too much or not chewing food enough and can usually be fixed by avoiding these issues.

now it said "usually" can be fixed, but not always. I'd call my surgeon.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
