wannabheathy 4 Posted May 25, 2013 Hi there everyone, I just found out during my visit with my PCP that I am anemic. While researching about the RNY, I learned that becoming anemic is a possible complication that anyone can experience. Since I'm already anemic is it still a good idea to consider the RNY? I am concerned about ending up Iron injections. Thank you for your responses.
jerz 251 Posted May 25, 2013 I was anemic pre op and I still am even though I take 2 prenatals and 2 Iron pills a day. My levels aren't to the point where my doc is freaking out but its still below average. HW:358 DOS:338 CW:278 SD:1/28/
jackie-o 22 Posted May 25, 2013 I have been anemic for the couple of years. I got an Iron infusion about a year ago and so far it has kept my iron and blood count up. I am 8weeks post op and still doing good with my iron. Hope this helps. Everyone is different. Take the advice of your Doctor.
MissNikki27 54 Posted May 25, 2013 I am anemic too. I have been for quite some time.....sometimes I'm so low I am prescribed Iron tablets. I wouldn't worry too much about it. My sister gets injections and has to take some liquid meds for iron. My daughters usually come up a little low too....so we are all definitely lacking something in our diet.
