Are you getting in all your required Protein. My nutritionist said that if you are not getting all your protein in you don't lose weight as fast as you should.

I know the feeling. My surgery was just a few days after yours and I've only lost 7 lbs. I went for my follow up appt yesterday and the dr didn't seem to be worried. But I sure am. I lost the 7 the week after surgery and haven't lost since.

Surgery: May 9, 2013

I I truly believe it has something to do with how much of the intestines that they bypass... I don't dump the only restriction I feel I have is I can't eat much that is all. I'm at my surgeons office now. I haven't lost a pound in fact I'm gaining in over two or three weeks

I'm almost 7 weeks out and have only lost 3 pounds since week four. I'm down 26 lbs total. I had a follow up Wednesday and they said I should have lost at least 10 more than I have. I did not like that news... very discouraging.

I am 6.5 weeks and have lost 27. I feel discouraged too. So many others have lost more. I didn't start with a low bmi. I get all many Protein & Water. I don't do carbs. I don't cheat.

You always hear how its simple calories in vs calories out. I call BS!

I know how you fall feel and it can be a little bit of a roller coaster ride the first months after surgery but hang in there it will come off. Just make sure you are getting in 64oz of Water each day. This is very important and aids in your weight loss. Next, if you are 1 or 2 months post op make sure you are getting in all your Protein I was 60-65 grams a day. I know this is hard because you are not hungry but work on getting it in each day. Another thing ( I really hate to bring this up) but it is important that you have a bowel movement each day. If this is not happening or you are going 1 to 3 days without one that will keep the weight from coming off too. If this is the case, you should speak with your surgeon or if you are working with a nutrionist call her/him and let them know and ask what can be done to help with this.

When someone told me this was going to be a journey they were not kidding. Good Luck All.

Keep your chins up everyone. Every thing will fall into place and the weight and inches will fall off. I would encourage you to stop stepping on the scale. The scale can be your worst enemy during a stall. Find another way to measure your success. Stay focused on your plan and remember that we did not gain weight over night and our bodies will not lose it over night. Please don't compare yourself to others because we are all so different. It will just cause you more stress.

For those still under the 3 months mark - give your bodies a chance to heal and catch up to all the changes. We have just completely messed with our bodies. You could be in starvation mode and your body is throwing a temper tantrum. It wants to hold onto everything you put into it. It believes you are never going to eat again.

Finally Get in your Protein, Water and exercise. Stay positive and try not to stress out as it will only make your body madder at you.

My final thought on this - instead of making your goals all about the numbers and scale think of a new goal. Write on a piece of paper the non scale victories you want and when you reach them scratch it off.

For example here were a few of my goals:

Play soccer without pain

Get into the police academy

Fit into a size 16

Run a 5k

As I meet some goals I add new ones.

You are changing everyday and the journey will be very rewarding and you will learn so much about your self. Please stay positive and reach for your dreams! They are possible!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
