I don't know if I can do this anymore.... Seriously considering having this thing reversed. I am 4 weeks post op, however, had to have a second surgery for bowel obstruction a week ago. I am so sick all the time that I'm barely able to eat anything. It's a chore to even get enough Fluid in. My weight is still higher than it was before the second surgery. I am at my wits end... I ask myself every 15 minutes what I did to myself and why!?! I'm literally starving my body and I am still not losing weight. Help please?

In order to lose, you need to eat, and get the Protein and Water in. Otherwise your body knows it's starving and holds on to everything! I feel so bad that you aren't doing well, but you've had two surgeries! Give it a chance, you body needs to heal. It will happen. Can you do Protein shakes at all? Even if you did 2 or 3 a day, you could get your Protein in, and then would start losing. What does your dr say? You are in my thoughts, hope you start to feel better really soon! :(

Hang in there everyone. Make sure you are in contact with your doctor about the nausea. They are there to help you. It does get better. I was sick for about 3 months. I can now eat anything I want and have lost 116. You just have to make it through the storm before you can see the rainbow!

I'm so sorry you're going through hell. As for the weight thing, I wouldn't worry about that just yet. You have had 2 surgeries, and I know for bowel obstruction's especially, they really like to load you with fluids. That coupled with not being able to eat just has your body in a state of shock right now, making it unwilling to give up the weight.

Are you able to take anything for the nausea? Like a zofran, or if you can literally take nothing by mouth, what about a suppository for the nausea?

I wish you the best and hope everything starts to improve soon for you.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
