Jess 5 Posted May 22, 2013 Hi All! I started my journey on September 4 last year, after years of struggling with my weight and dealing with a redundant lap band. So here I am 8.5 months out total weight loss to date is 55kgs or 121lbs. But I still have agessss to go! Ive got another 40ish kgs to lose. I think Ive hit a plateau, Im also a little stressed because I thought I would be goal weight but my one year anniversary. But looking back I think I have put too much pressure on myself. I heard that the first year is crucial to loose the majority of your weight, but my doctor has said its actually 18 months to 2 years.. Im also having a hard time with wanting bad food, what do you do to curb your cravings and stay on track? Thanks for any words of wisdom! Ps I thought I would add in my before and after shot.... marymcg62 23 Posted May 22, 2013 Congratulations on your weight loss so far, I'm only 4 months post op, but I know how you feel about the food cravings, I've been dying for a turkey sub (or hero/hogie depending on where you live) from a local pizzeria, even just to be able to eat bread would be great. What I do is try to find the closest thing I can eat,to what I'm craving. Like the sub thing, I put turkey & Swiss in whole wheat crackers with real mayo, & it seems to satisfy the craving. Hope this helps. Peace 1 chrisviele32 reacted to this
deaddemmama 474 Posted May 22, 2013 I think it's normal to have food cravings. The psychologist I worked with told me that no food is really off limits unless it causes dumping. BUT she also said to limit those foods yo a once in a while special occasion. I guess it's all what works for you. Crazy denial all the time for the rest of my life seems daunting si I try to deal with cravings one day at a time.I'm only four weeks out so the things I crave are pretty simple...like salad!
