AshleyMichelle 3 Posted May 21, 2013 What are they looking for when you go through all the blood testing the week before??
khaw 10 Posted May 22, 2013 Just to make sure you aren't deficient in anything mostly. They also can tell if you have been following your diet properly.

khaw 10 Posted May 26, 2013 They told me they will be able to check my sugar and cholesterol and that kind of stuff. If you are eating whatever you want and not sticking to the plan they will know by blood work and weight. Also my dr told me the diet would help shrink the liver so it's easier to see and maneuver during surgery.
Ms_Kb718 22 Posted May 30, 2013 My blood work the week before surgery is only for a Type and Screen in case I need a blood transfusion. It is a hospital requirement, not my surgeon's. The pre-op blood work that goes to my surgeon can be done anytime within 30 days of surgery. I had my labs drawn this past Tuesday which is within the 30 days but only 2 days into my pre-op diet, so I'm sure he isn't looking for compliance with the diet.
