Reporting Inappropriate Posts

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if there is a way to report an inappropriate post to the mods. I've see a few uninvited guests around lately leaving unwelcome posts. I know the moderators are always on the look out, but is there a way to give them a heads up?

Yes, Dustmouse. See that exclamation point in a triangle at the top right-hand corner of every post? That's the button to report inappropriate posts. Click that and an e-mail is sent to all the moderators.

We really appreciate everyone's help in reporting bad posts or spam. Go to it, and thanks!!

I think it is a good idea to make a reply to the post that it has already been reported, that way the mods only get one flag for the post, not 10 or 20. When I flag a post I simply post, already reported in my reply. ~Mandy

Good idea Mandy---will start doing that!

As for porn filters, many of the things that will trigger on a filter such as that come up in perfectly normal discussions in conjunction to our surgery, and resulting weight loss.

There are threads going concerning peoples sex drive, and whether it was changed by the surgery. There are threads going about breast lifts. And even pictures detailing tummy tucks or breast lifts, that are quite graphic, although not pornographic. It would limit the things we can talk about.

It is a drag that there are people out there trying to make life miserable by posting the crap they do....but I don't have a clue how to stop it!

What if we made people be a member here for a month (active member) before being allowed to post links? ~Mandy

What constitutes an inappropriate post? Values are highly subjective? Since this is a forum about Lap band, anything not related to bandsters could be deemed such.

The posts being discussed here are the ones that are similar to the spam e-mails that you get, with links to porn sites, or websites trying to sell cheap drugs...that sort of thing. It's usually a user's very first post, or sometimes they'll post two right together....sometimes the subject line looks legit.

Mandy, while it sounds like it might work---I found this site about 3 weeks before my banding, and I lived and breathed LBT for those last weeks!!! I had so many questions answered, and fears eased. I had people who KNEW all about it to talk to. I really hate to see the ones who are not doing it be deprived of interacting with us. Keep thinking girl---you are already doing more than I am, about solving it! Sharing ideas!

I'm not saying to not let them post. I'm saying to not let them post links...that would seriously slow down the spam. ~Mandy

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
