Skinnier, but not younger. Lol

Recommended Posts

I've lost 110 pounds in 10 months, so I thought I would try to do a "round off" that's similar to a cartwheel. I've been exercising a lot so I thought I could show my kids (ages 26, 23, and 20), who were all home visiting this weekend, how agile I am now. I'm a lot lighter, but I'm still 46 years old. Boy, did it hurt when I pulled my hamstring muscle trying to do the round off. My 20 year old had to carry me in the house. He's probably really glad I don't weigh 300 pounds anymore. Lol. As soon as I can, I'm going to start exercising again, but gymnastics are off-limits for this "old" woman. Ha ha!

I would say stretch more and that round off would be no problem. Warm up on a bike or treadmill for about 5 min and then stretch really good before every workout. It will improve your circulation and help prevent injuries like this.

As for a pulled hamstring please let it heal before you hit the gym too hard. Heating pads are great to help with this type of injury. You still want to stretch everyday during this time, but not as intense as you would during your workouts. Nice gentle stretches are usually recommended.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
