Hello there! I was also banded on February 12! I still have a little bit of pain on the incision where my port is and after I have been sitting for a bit I have some pain when I stand up. But all in all I am doing much better and I am very excited about this new life journey.

Congratulations to you!

Hi E Mara and welcome to LBT! Congrats on your surgery! As far as the pain and soreness goes, it's different for everyone, and also depends on what you are doing. I was banded 13 days before you and I am no longer sore. Give it time. You just had surgery. Best of luck to you! Gigi

I don't have a surgery date yet, but I was wondering about when you can go back to work. I am a secretary, so basically I sit all day. I was wondering if being off work a week and then going back was unrealistic.

I was off for a week, and I have a desk job as well. I did ok my first day back, just had some back pain, just stiff from being in the same position all day, and had to get up and walk around periodically to relieve some residual gas pains. After that, though, I did just fine at work, no problems!

I would recommend taking a lumbar pillow or other small pillow to put in your chair to lean on, and maybe some liquid tylenol in case you are still sore. Beyond that, you should be ok.

Good luck in your journey!

Hi!! I am going for my evaluation today. I am so tired of the yo-yoing. I hope they approve my surgery and set it up soon. I know it is going to be a long road but I am ready to take a positive step.............

I had surgery in Mexico on Friday Feb 9th and was back at work on Monday the 12th. I sit down for my job so it wasn't a big deal except where my bra rubbed the incision. Wear a comfortable bra after surgery like a sport bra. The underwire can rub one of the incisions.

I felt great the day after my surgery. My sister and I went shopping for a few hours in Mexico. Walking really helps with gas. I never got the gas pains in my shoulder and I feel that the walking really helped with that.

Good luck to you!

my doc said...... desk job should be ok a few days after but for a labor intensive job (Like yours) give it two weeks, and definately don't lift more than 20 lbs for AT LEASE two weeks.

Thank you everyone for the input .now 1 week out of surgery and feeling much better.I happen to have the worst time with my Protein ,but my nutritionist gave me a recipe for a homemade shake that tastes great and has 29 grams of protein here it is: 3/4 cup egg beaters,1 cup skim plus milk,1 teaspoon vanilla extract,2 packs artificial sweetener, ice . Put in a blender and mix. This takes a while to drink, but it really is good.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
