Hi..it is not true that you can never do these things again. I have seen ppl get back fat. Your tummy can "re-stretch"...now my friend is 5yrs out. She can eat that stuff, but she eats it in moderation. She can eat a piece, but she will dump if she eats two.A fizzy drink might not feel good.

Some people can eat everything you posted, some can't it depends on your body. Right now I am three months out, and foods I ate last week make me sick this wek, but I am down 61 pounds

Some days I drink shakes and some I don't. It really depends on my activity level for the day. You do not just have to drink shakes to get in your Protein. Try using double pasteurized egg whites. You can add them to any drink and you do not taste it. It turns a drink with 0 protein in to one with protein. I still struggle with chicken and turkey as well. I find I eat a lot of fish and meat as my protein sources.

I heard this in my group meeting pre-op from a post-op person. 1. your taste buds change. 2. fizzy drinks you can't do. yes my taste buds changed and now some of the foods that i used to love turn my stomach. so who knows you might not want to eat that piece of chocolate cake. but I can drink a small amount of a decaf-fizzy drink but not often.

I'm three weeks out and went cold turkey off diet pepsi...I really don't miss it that much and I had a serious addiction. I just get sick of fruity flavors all the time...I switch to iced tea when it gets to be too sweet. I'm not a chocolate lover thank God so I don't miss that.

Man I feel you...I had an eight diet pepsin a day habit...I cut out one every two days pre surgery and am now drinkiing Vitamin Water and diet v8 splash...ice tea etc...it's a small price to pay....I'm down thirty six lbs in four weeks from my HW of 297. I can live without my diet pepsin.certainly not worth stretching the pouch or getting sick. It's hard though. You can do it!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
