Alex B., Thank You for Lapbandtalk.com

Recommended Posts

Alex B., thank you so much for creating this wonderful website in 07/2003! I have gotten so much encouragement, advice, support, and friendship from here. You are a very wise and insightful person, (in spite of being a "youngster":D )

I would love to know what your "Bandster story" is and the story behind this forum's creation. (It's so user friendly compared to others.)

Also, thank you for helping me w/changing my original screen name from 4x4x4 to New Hope. I guess that sums up pretty much how I did feel (before banding) and how I feel today! Again, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

Oops, Vera, Alexander is a moderator. But Alex B. (male) is the board creator and owner. (I used to think they were the same "Alex"):)

Yeah, one day, on another board, he just wrote something like, "Oh? You want a LapBand board? I can do that." And he did.

It is confusing, I know, but I'm not the Alex who founded this board. I saw that posting Sue mentions and just followed him over here to what I think is a MUCH better user interface than anything else currently used for bandster groups. Including that of the new Spotlight, which I hate more than the old one!

I'm a girl, and he's a boy. That's one sure way to tell us apart. :)

For some of us. One day, when our daughter was just a couple of months old, I was at a mom-baby-thing and was changing her diaper on her blanket, on the floor. The housekeeper of the woman who was hosting the event came over, looked at my NAKED baby and said, "How lovely. Is your baby a boy or a girl?" I stared for a moment at my naked child and said, "Looks like a girl to me!"

She was naked. Nude. Sunny side up. I mean...???

Yep, Alex sent me a personal letter the day I joined this forum and I read a post from him a couple of months ago but that's the last I've heard of him.

Alexandra doesn't miss a thing and she's a very talented writer.

Thanks again!

Hey How's Alexis?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
