I keep feeling weak & dizzy

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery a week ago, and I am trying to get the hang of the post op diet. I figured out early what dumping syndrome felt like, because I tried to hit my goal of 60 oz liquid and 60 grams of Protein too fast. I also didn't dilute my fruit juice. BIG mistake! Really weak and confused and sweating excessively. So I ramped everything way down, and it made me feel better, but this evening I'm feeling weak and disoriented again. Did anyone else go through something similar? What helped?

I wasn't into Protein stuff. It was making me sick so I never took protein crap Lolz.. Your body will adjust to it.

maybe you should check your blood sugar, dumping is caused by eating foods that are high in sugar/carbs my nutritionist said that our body reacts to the carbs with a surge of insulin which then causes a drop uh blood sugar leading to the symptoms that you're having.

Could be the sign of many things... Dehydration for one... I would call your doctor

I called my doc, and we figured out I was having dumping symptoms. I was drinking too many fluids too soon after surgery. I dropped back everything and started the next day with smaller amounts, and added broth to replace some of my sipping Water. I felt better and increased a lot slower after that. Whew! That was not fun.

I am 3 weeks post op, and I felt exactly like that my 1st week. I finally figured out I was going way to long without eating, like 6-9 hours in between bites. I had no desire for anything but I felt funky and would sweat like crazy. Once I forced an eating schedule on myself my problems stopped within 1 or 2 days. Now I eat every 3-3.5 hours without a problem. I can't handle the Protein shakes- yuck, but drink more milk to ensure I get what I need. I also make sure within 20 minutes of getting up to have a glass, otherwise I will start sweating and getting a foggy brain.

I do too! I have warm broth, since it replaces my coffee habit (somewhat).

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
