So, I've been disappointed with my loss. I'm down 51 pounds but 22 was from the shake diet. This means I've lost 29 since surgery on April 1st. That's what.....43 days? This is what? I'm horrible at math. Like an average of 5 pounds a week. So I should be happy. Sure I should...

Except for the last 3 weeks it's been SLOW. Like slow slow. I quit eating carbs and dropped pounds. Literally stopped my stall. So I messaged my dietitian She thinks I'm "carb sensitive" so now I have to give them up. I'm willing to for now. I can have them later when I'm maintaining. For now...no Beans.

So, if you just had surgery recently and you're disappointed in your progress...just quit all your carbs. For me...it helped.

I thought that was my problem with my stall too but I've cut them down to practically nothing, increased my Protein from 60 gm's to 90 gm's and increased my activity and I'm still at a dang stall. What gives!! I had surgery April 8th and I'm only down 23 lbs!!! I'm so scared that my loss isn't going to happen but trying to stay focused and not on the number on the scale!! That's hard- lol. Hopefully that helps you.

Ask yourself this - before surgery was losing 23 pounds in a little over a month even possible? Your loss will happen, but you have to give your body time to heal and adjust. Your body is in the holy sh&t mood. It is holding onto everything and is scared to let anything go. It will calm down and you will start losing again. Your best plan is not to get on the scale for about a week and when you do you will see a loss. Also when I stalled on the scale is when I lost all my inches. Remember we are all different in our weight loss journey. Stick to your plan that the doc gave you and you will have success.

This I know from experience in a few months when you are losing weight and feeling great you will see a newbie come on here and stress out about not losing and you will get a smile on your face because you have lived through it. Just take deep breathes and know it will all be ok and this too shall pass!

Go to the Atkin's site. I am also carb sensitive. I have lived a low carb lifestyle for quite some time prior to surgery and now after. They have awesome recipes and there are tons of great low carb meals out there.

Thank you! I've been looking them up! :) I just didn't know "carb sensitivity" could slow me like that with that little calories and it can. I wish I'd known that before. I might have managed to lose some weight on my own! Not that I regret this step, but I never considered carb sensitivity. I always had dietitians that were "calories in and calories out" period. :) So I just mentioned this since others might be too and it DID break my stall.

I've also found a ton of good recipes on Pinterest.

hahaha! this is so funny!

i've been on a 2 week stall as well!

lost 20 pounds in twee weeks and the following two weeks - nothing.

the last 2 weeks is also the time i started with my solid soft foods, lots (well, that's relative) of carbs and such. gem squash. mash potatoes.

i hardly eat anything though. and nothing is moving! i am so frustrated, scared i "broke" it!

but it is good to know there are lots more out there with the same thing.

I do have clothes fitting me now that previously didn't. so it seems i am losing centimetres though, which is great.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
