I can finally say I had the surgery! I had the bypass Wednesday, May 8, and it is now Saturday, May 11. I still have cramps and pain, but considering it was major surgery, I am doing great!

I've been up walking around the house occasionally folding laundry, making sure I drink lots of sips of Water. My first night home from the hospital my family made pizza and celebrated my husband's birthday with an ice cream cake. It wasn't really difficult to resist since my stomach is still so sore, but it smelled really good. I am going to need a better defense down the road when my stomach doesn't hurt any more.

Pain levels are different for everyone and for every size. I am 51 and have arthritis in all my joints, so I'm in constant pain anyway. The post op medical staff was very good about getting me walking and getting me meds when I needed them on day one. If you are having laproscopic gastric bypass (RNY), then you'll have 5 or 6 incision sites that are pretty sore to start with. It felt like really bad gas, which is exactly what it was. I didn't pass that until day three. I had nausea too, but they gave me a patch that took care of that. I had to have morphine on day one and two, with a second night in the hospital, but I left with Tylenol with codeine working well.

Otherwise, it has been pretty good. I am on day four and getting around pretty well. I am planning to go for a walk around my neighborhood today. If you work in a job that requires no heavy lifting you should probably be goog to goo within a a couple of weeks.

I hope that helps.

Thanks pain for me is good. Like I wasn't in that much pain in fact I was grocery shopping next day after coming home from the hospital. I saw results 3 months after surgery cuz when you drop 5/10/15/20 pounds you don't notice it but when you drop 30/40/50/60/70/80/90 pounds you really see it. After 3 months every week I was buying a smaller size pants until 6 months I hit size 2 and small shirt and stood this size since 6 months going on 12 months post up. From 211lbs to now 113lbs

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
